Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Programme in the Gaza Strip
Ajyal Association for Creativity and Development, in partnership with Amos Trust, is implementing an Explosive Ordnance Risk Education programme to raise awareness of unexploded ordnance across Gaza, promote safer behaviour, prevent injuries, and protect lives. The partnership runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
The initiative addresses explosive hazards threatening children, families, displaced people, and humanitarian workers in conflict-affected areas. It provides practical information to help community members recognise suspicious objects, avoid touching or moving them, keep a safe distance, warn others, and report hazards to the appropriate authorities.
Through age-appropriate activities, the programme promotes safer practices among people facing heightened exposure, particularly children and vulnerable groups. Communication approaches will be adapted to the local context so that key messages can be understood and applied in homes, shelters, schools, neighbourhoods, and damaged areas.
Ajyal and Amos Trust are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults throughout implementation. This includes protecting participants’ rights, obtaining appropriate consent before sharing personal information or images, and responding responsibly to safeguarding concerns. The partnership also prioritises financial management, anti-fraud and anti-bribery measures, data protection, monitoring, and regular reporting to ensure that funding is used solely for its intended charitable purpose.
By strengthening knowledge and responsible action, the programme will reduce exposure to explosive hazards, foster a community culture of caution, and help people protect themselves and their families while moving through or returning to affected areas, supporting safer recovery and community resilience across Gaza.
